Aham Bhumika
Kunti and Laxmi both are sister. I met them last Saturday ( 02.05.12) sitting outside of our informal literacy centre in the village Mahabadia, Bhopal. I was told that they were left by their mother few days ago to a distant relative in the village on their mercy. Kunti is 12+ years old while her younger sister Laxmi is 8+years old. Their parents have 6 children (4 girl and 2 son).Father who is a regular drunkard beats her wife and children regularly without any reason like every useless Indian who used to show their muscle power to the woman. The mother of the girl children came to know from somewhere that our organization provides food too, besides informal education to the girl children; hence she left her two daughters on the mercy of a distant relative in the village. We used to provide grain earlier to the women of our Grain School but at present our grain school is closed. On Sunday we admitted both the girl children to our informal literacy centre and asked them to write whatever they know in Hindi and to my surprise both the girls could read and write well though they don’t had any regular schooling. If they get regular support they could do well, I am sure.

LAXMI
Since we cannot leave these adolescent girl children on the mercy of their distant relative who themselves are hand to mouth therefore we are making effort to make necessary arrangements for both the girls for their food, education and dresses. As we have observed that this is not the only case in recent past but there are many girl children in the village we are working and in the nearby villages where underage girls are forced to work for the paltry wages due to poverty. They remain uneducated doing hard manual work. We are making effort to raise fund for these type of girl children in particular to provide them food, education and clothes. You may sponsor dresses, stationery materials,food etc. for the girl children.You may send the material/s in kind or may support us monetarily .
